We are proud to celebrate Shalini Vican, who presented her summer research project at the 19th Saint Louis University (SLU) Stroke Conference on October 27, 2026, showcasing work she contributed to during her internship at UNandUP last summer.
Shalini presents her summer project.
Her poster, “Mechanical Clot Debulking Using the ThromBot™ Magnetically Actuated Rotational Thrombectomy System,” highlighted her contributions to improving UNandUP's in-vitro blood clot models and supporting the development and preclinical evaluation of ThromBot™. Her work focused on refining these models to better assess the system's thrombectomy performance and its potential to address unmet clinical needs in acute ischemic stroke.
Shalini's presentation was supported by our Robotic team member, Matthew De Venecia, Engineer Scientist. Special thanks to Nick Jensen, our Director of Robotics, Michael Sabo, UNandUP’s Chief of Programs and the Washington University's Biomedical Engineering department. Their mentorship, technical guidance, and collaboration played an important role in supporting her research and preparing her for this opportunity.
We are incredibly proud of Shalini's accomplishment and grateful for the dedication, curiosity, and enthusiasm she brought to our team last summer. Seeing our interns grow, contribute to meaningful research, and share their work with the broader medical community is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do!
Congratulations, Shalini!
